Sustainability is so important to what Earth Blooms stands for. But what does that mean?
As an Associate Member of the Association of Green Funeral Directors and the Farewell flowers directory we will:
Never use floral foam in our arrangements. Floral foam is made from plastic and when it breaks down releases micro plastics into the environment, damaging nature and the eco system. Instead we use other sustainable techniques using garden moss, plantable living wreaths and natural structures made from willow and wicker which are all compostable.
Always try and use British grown flowers where possible. Being based in Somerset we are lucky enough to have an amazing range of flower growers locally and so they are our first port of call. However there may be reasons, for example seasonality where this is not possible, so the flowers will be imported from Holland. Certain times of year are great for foraging, always responsibly, for example cow parsley in early summer. It grows abundantly in nature and can add a lovely light feel to the arrangements. We can also use dried flowers as part of your floral tribute, they will never be bleached or coloured as the natural beauty of a flower is all you need.
Always use packaging that is recyclable, for example the paper and card used for wrapping. The labeling and cards are made from recycled paper containing flower seeds which can then be planted.
Because of our sustainable choices it means you can just focus on the meaning of your farewell flowers, knowing that everything else has been taken care of.
